Sony they nakhre sony lagde
Date: Oct 4th 2008
Event: 32" Bravia comes home
Time: 9:40PM
The day was pretty long, and we were driving back home from Bidadi after the IFC trip. We were nearing our home and having casual discussion on how the day went by. I had to stop near the 'Sony Centre' junction at Indira Nagar as the signal was red. Suddenly i asked Mee if she wanted to check out some of the Sony models available, and the instant response came 'Yes'.
Background: We have a Philips 17" TV at home and both of us had been thinking of getting a better one behind our minds. Though we had casually expressed it but were ok continuing with the existing TV.
Immediately instead of taking the straight road i turned the car left and parked it in front of 'Sony Center' showroom. Both of us were excited at the prospect of looking at some new options. To my surprise all i could find was LCD TV's and no other models, well probably i was expecting a bunch of old model TV's and then the LCD TV's in the new arrivals section (sometimes its good to have the realization that one is getting older and things are moving much faster than my thoughts).
Mee said that she always dreamed of a big LCD TV as the option somewhere down the line (which i gauged probably could have been a 62" or higher).
Our eyes popped up on the 32" TV and, somewhere inside, both of us thought "yes this is what i want", but with another 26" TV just next to it with quite a decent price variation made us look confused. The question was: "Do we really need 32" or was 26" more than sufficient (considering that we were surviving on a 17" TV right now)!
The collections which caught our eyes were:
The sales person Mr.Peter was generous, but looked like did not have all information or details when we queried him on feature difference between some of the 32" variances. However, one think which seperated the 32" Bravia of Rs.45K & Rs.49K, as per him was DMPort, which i already had as part of my "Sony Music System".
After couple of rounds of discussion between Mee & me, we realized that both wanted 32", considering it to be long time investment and thoda sa 'dil ki pasand', so out went the 26" option. The dealer threw some decent discount on the price (bringing the Rs.45K to ~Rs.42K). However, the important point was, we had been to the showroom to 'check' out some models, and not to 'buy', so we thanked the sales person and started our walk back.
Almost inside the car, a question popped up my mind, do these guys have an exchange offer? If so i can probably get my old TV exchanged and save some money. Mee agreed and back we went to the showroom. Yes, they had exchange offer, but after asking us our old TV model and brand Mr.Peter threw us an exchange offer of Rs.1-1.5K,and our heart sunk thinking we would rather give it to someone who requires it:)
Again we thanked the sales person and started our way back, but this time Mee & me stood at the enterance and started thinking why not get the TV NOW! Thought came in that we should check with other showrooms, but then at max we would have got benefit of Rs.1K or so, and was it worth the time we would have to invest again. We were decided, we wanted to close it now, and wanted the TV TODAY!
The time was 10:00PM, and i turned to Mr.Peter and asked if he could deliver the TV that same night. He checked with his person and agreed on it, and all i knew was i was getting my card swiped for the TV:) Phew.....20 min and after getting in the showroom to 'check' for a TV, we were coming out 'buying' the TV.
We suggested the delivery boy to come with us in our car so that he does not have to struggle finding our house in the night. So we drove back with the TV & technician along with us and by 10:45PM we had our new TV all set up for the show.
Both of us were pretty excited and felt good with our new member @ home. So we had the 32" view in our house complementing the existing Sony music system.
